Behind the Blend:
Our business has been built on our signature West Country blend. Developed in 1962 by Derek Miles, it has remained a Miles staple ever since.
The teas that are used in our West Country Blend are sold to us through tea brokers and are farmed mainly in plantations in Assam and Africa. The tea leaves are plucked and then gathered and sent to tea factories, to be withered (spread out and removed of all moisture), rolled, dried and sorted using different methods which turns them into a range of different leaf sizes known as ‘grades’. Each of these grades of tea can have a different effect on flavour, look and taste of the overall blend and so it is crucial that each tea is selected carefully and in the right quantities.
Our teabag blend is hand crafted by our tea blenders to ensure that every time you drink a cup of Miles tea it carries the same flavour, strength and look you know and love. Each blend that is made is tasted and quality control checked by our tea tasters John and Nathaniel, ensuring that each and every batch that leaves our production line is as good as the one before and gives you exactly the same Miles West Country taste time after time.
However, it’s not just our West Country tea we do here at Miles, we also do a range of different green, herbal and fruit teas across a range of different products, so why not take a moment to browse all the teas that we have to offer.
