These varieties are specifically selected and expertly blended because their leaves undergo full oxidation, giving them a deeply satisfying strength, a bright copper colour, and a crisp, refreshing finish.

Miles Kenya Tea: A bright, golden brew from East Africa that offers an exceptionally clean, brisk, and lively flavour - making it the ultimate refreshing pick-me-up.

To make a truly strong cup of tea with a refreshing finish, you must use freshly drawn, boiling water at 100°C and allow the leaves to steep undisturbed for a full 3 to 5 minutes. Using water that has already been boiled multiple times loses oxygen, which can leave your tea tasting flat rather than brisk and lively.

Follow these simple steps for brewing strong black tea to perfection:

Always warm your mug or teapot first with a splash of hot water to keep the brewing temperature consistent.

Use one tea bag or one rounded teaspoon of loose leaf tea per cup, and pour the boiling water directly over the leaves to agitate them and release the flavour.

Leave it to brew for at least 4 minutes to allow the robust, deep tannins to fully develop.

If you take your tea with milk, give the bag a gentle stir before removing it, but avoid crushing it excessively, as this can introduce unwanted bitterness instead of smooth strength.

A standard, strong cup of black tea contains roughly 40mg to 50mg of caffeine, which is about half the amount found in a typical cup of brewed coffee. Because a robust brew uses deeply oxidised leaves, it naturally releases its caffeine content steadily into the water during a longer 4 to 5-minute steep.

However, the way caffeine in a high strength black tea interacts with your body is completely different to coffee. Tea naturally contains an amino acid called L-theanine, which slows down the absorption of caffeine into your system. This unique combination provides a smooth, sustained boost in alertness and mental focus, helping you stay energised and refreshed throughout the day without the sudden energy crashes.
