The blend (Ingredients in bold)

Sencha Kyoto Cherry Rose is ablend that marries the ancient traditions of Japan with a modern floral elegance. At its heart is high-quality Green tea, crafted to exacting Japanese specifications to ensure a spring-fresh character. This base is artfully blended with delicate Rose petals and natural flavours to recreate the ethereal beauty of a Kyoto springtime. It is a sophisticated, soulful tea that offers a wonderful character in every cup.

The taste

On the palate, this tea is marked by the classic pungency and body of a traditional Sencha, tempered by a sweet, succulent cherry flavour. Subtle rose hints provide a soft floral finish, reminiscent of the sweet aromas that waft through the air during Japan’s cherry blossom season. Brewed correctly, it yields a pale yellow-green infusion that is crisp, refreshing, and layered with nuance. It is a complex blend that balances the "freshness" of the tea garden with the sweetness of the orchard.

The benefit

As a premium green tea, Sencha Kyoto is a superb choice for those seeking a healthy, mindful ritual. It boasts a high antioxidant level, offering a powerful natural boost to your daily routine. With a low caffeine level, it provides a gentle, sustained energy and mental clarity without the intensity of a heavy black tea or coffee. It is a restorative choice for the body and a peaceful retreat for the mind.

The moment

This tea was created to honour the ritual of the pause. Sencha has long been used in Japanese tea ceremonies to mark events of personal importance, acknowledging the individual in the moment. Whether you are celebrating a personal milestone or simply finding a quiet ten minutes in a busy day, this blend turns a simple cup of tea into a ceremony. Its floral notes evoke the spirit of Kyoto’s historic temples and blossom-filled parks, making it the perfect companion for reflection.

How to brew:

Tea: 1 heaped teaspoon | Water temp: 85°C | Brewing Time: 3-5 minutes.

Method:

To experience the spring-fresh character and subtle rose hints of this "avant-garde" green tea, start by bringing filtered or freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil for food safety. Allow the water to cool to 85°C before placing one slightly heaped teaspoon of loose tea for every 200–260ml of water into your teapot. Pour the water over the leaves, cover, and allow to infuse for 3 to 5 minutes. While the tea can be steeped for up to 7 minutes for a stronger taste, we recommend increasing the amount of tea leaves rather than the steeping time to avoid bitterness.

Goes well with:
This tea is best enjoyed without additions to fully appreciate its delicate floral character.

Pro tip:
If you find regular green tea a bit too 'grassy' or bitter, this is your perfect match. The sweet cherry and rose notes make it incredibly approachable and fragrant. The secret? Never use boiling water. Let your kettle sit for two minutes after boiling before pouring. This protects the delicate leaves, ensuring your tea tastes like a sweet spring garden rather than a bitter herb.
