About this coffee:
Italian Espresso is a bold, medium-dark roasted house blend meticulously crafted to deliver a traditional, intense, and full-bodied espresso experience. Combining exceptional coffees from three distinct growing regions - Brazil, Uganda, and Honduras - this blend is specifically engineered to cut through milk beautifully and produce a thick, luxurious crema.
Blend Composition and Origins
- Brazil:
Provides a naturally processed foundation that delivers a smooth body, rich sweetness, and the essential qualities needed to build a classic, dense crema. - Uganda (Robusta):
Incorporates select Robusta beans to introduce significant depth, heavy structure, and a powerful punch, giving the espresso its traditional, robust character. - Honduras:
Cultivated in high altitude ranges, adding a subtle layer of sweetness that harmonises the intense roast notes.
The Art of the Roast
- Roasting Profile:
To achieve its authentic profile, the green beans undergo a steady, medium - dark roast, typically lasting between 18 - 20 minutes at temperatures reaching approximately 210 degrees Celsius. - Roaster’s Expertise:
This style of roasting requires immense skill; our master roasters closely monitor the development by eye and ear, catching the beans at the exact moment the profile reaches its optimal depth to balance richness with smoothness. - Character:
This attentive, artisanal approach coaxes out a heavy, dark chocolate profile with deeply comforting notes of toasted nuts and a smoky, luxurious finish. It is the perfect choice for a sharp ristretto, a classic espresso, or as a robust base for flat whites and cappuccinos.
From Global Origins to your cup:
The journey of our Italian Espresso spans continents, capturing the boldest characteristics of South American plateaus, Central American ranges, and East African estates. Once imported, these select green beans arrive at our factory in the coastal village of Porlock, Somerset. Here, they are transformed through our specialised medium-dark roasting process, combining timeless espresso tradition with our West Country roasting expertise. This meticulous transition - from diverse global landscapes to our South West roastery - ensures that every cup you brew delivers a deeply satisfying, barista-quality espresso filled with rich flavour and heritage.
