How should you brew Assam loose leaf tea?

Assam loose leaf tea should be brewed with care to extract the best flavor from the leaves. Start by boiling fresh, cold water and allowing it to cool slightly before pouring it over the tea leaves. For Assam tea, a water temperature of around 93-100°C is ideal. Let the tea steep for about 3-5 minutes, depending on your preference for strength. Stirring the leaves gently can help release more flavor. Once the desired brewing time is reached, strain the leaves and pour the tea into a cup. Assam loose leaf tea is known for its robust flavor and malty notes, making it a beloved choice for black tea enthusiasts looking for a bold and invigorating brew.

How to brew:

Tea: 1 heaped teaspoon | Water temp: 100°C | Brewing Time: 4-5 minutes.

Method:

Experience the full-bodied strength and malty character of this top Assam estate by bringing filtered or freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place one heaped teaspoon of loose tea for every 200–260ml of water into your cup or teapot. Pour the boiling water over the leaves, cover, and allow to infuse for an optimum time of 4 to 5 minutes. While the tea can be steeped for up to 7 minutes according to your taste preference, the recommended time for a balanced cup is 4 to 5 minutes.

Goes well with:
Milk, sugar or lemon.

Pro tip:
Assam is the ultimate breakfast tea! Because it has a high level of tannins and a bold, malty profile, it is one of the best teas in the world to enjoy with a splash of milk. The milk softens the briskness and brings out the natural sweetness of the leaves. For the perfect cup, follow the "ritual": warm the pot and let the leaves steep for exactly four minutes.
