Whats the best way to grind coffee beans?

Grinding coffee beans is an essential step in the coffee brewing process, as it helps to release the flavours and aromas locked within the beans. There are several methods for grinding coffee beans, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

It’s important to remember that coffee beans will be at their ‘peak’ flavour up to and around 2 months from roasting and there is potential that after that time, they’re taste and aroma may change. One way to keep your coffee tasting fresh is to only grind the beans when you’re about to use them. You can even store your coffee beans in the freezer as this can help preserve their quality but you’ll need an airtight container to stop moisture and odours from other items affecting the beans. The best way, in our opinion, is to buy coffee beans inline without how much you use approximately every 6-8 weeks as this will ensure their freshness when making that cup of coffee you desperately crave!

How do I store coffee beans?

How you store your coffee beans is crucial to the finished cup of coffee! We recommend an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Containers than don’t absorb odours or flavours are perfect – such as glass or ceramic, whereas plastic tubs can affect the taste of the beans. Air, light, heat and moisture can all have negative impacts on the freshness of your coffee beans and so we advise to keep them away from direct sunlight and areas of heat in the kitchen such as the oven. Whilst you can preserve the freshness of your coffee beans by storing them in a refrigerator or freezer, we would only advise this if absolutely necessary because moisture and other aromas from these can find their way into the containers and affect the beans – we would highly advise that any container used is completely airtight!
