Leave your map and shovel in the shed and enjoy the West Country’s greatest treasure – our own Smugglers’ Gold. A delicious mixture of Assam, Kenyan and Ceylon tea leaves. This pack contains 1kg of loose leaf Smuggler's Gold tea.
Smugglers' Gold is blended using the very best of the best Assam and Kenya tea leaves. Ceylon tea is also added to the blend – a tea leaf that is aromatic and full of flavour. This combination makes for a very premium tea, bright and very tasty.
Black tea contains polyphenols, a type of antioxidant. Caffeine and an amino acid called L-theanine are also found in black tea, which is said can improve alertness and focus – even more than coffee!

We are founding members of the Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP). The ETP is a not-for-profit organisation, which convenes tea companies, developing agencies, governmental and non-governmental organisations to improve the lives of communities within the tea sector. Each purchase directly helps to provide better living and working conditions for those working in the tea trade.

Blended using carefully selected Assam, Kenyan and Ceylon tea leaves to bring you a real premium tea.
Black tea is best made with water brought to a full boil and used immediately for the tea to release its full flavour (if you're using a teapot remember to warm the pot first). Use one teabag per person or one teaspoon of loose-leaf tea per person.
Allow to brew for 3-5 minutes. If you like your tea strong add more tea, don't steep for longer as this will turn the flavours bitter.
Drink with milk or on its own.
This premium tea calls for a fancier biscuit. We recommend a tunnocks teacake! Soft marshmallow-y goodness paired with the aromatic tea blend is just the perfect indulgence around three pm.
Make sure you store your tea in an airtight container – a tin is better than plastic, or seal up the packaging it arrives in. Although tea feels dry, it contains 3 % moisture and oils that are essential to its flavour. If not properly stored these can evaporate. Keep your tea in a fairly cool, dry place, which is out of sunlight and try to keep away from any spices that could taint the flavour.
