Description

Japanese Rice Tea is as unique as it is beautiful.  A green tea, blended with toasted brown rice that has popped (like popcorn). As unusual as it sounds, this sweet tea has a distinctive nutty flavour that perfectly balances with the deliciousness of the green tea. A great conversation starter and recommended for those looking to try something new. Also known by the Japanese name 'Genmaicha'.

How does it taste?

Fresh and ricey with a distinct sweetness.

Blended by the coast

This tea has been carefully crafted, tasted and blended by our small team on Somerset's coastline.  Our attention to detail and experience ensures a consistent, flavourful tea we can't wait for you to enjoy.

We are founding members of the Ethical Tea Partnership, so each purchase directly helps to provide better living and working conditions for everyone working in the tea trade.

Ingredients

Japanese green tea, brown rice and popcorn.

Perfect Brew

Green teas are best made with water that has not quite boiled for the tea to release its full flavour. If you are using a teapot remember to warm the pot first. Use one teaspoon of tea per person.

Allow to brew for between 3-5 minutes. If you like your tea strong add more tea, don't steep for longer as this will turn the flavours bitter.

Drink the Japanese Rice on its own, or lovely with a macaroon.

Make sure you store your tea in an air tight container, or seal up the foil packaging it arrives in. Although tea feels dry, it contains 3 % moisture and oils that are essential to its flavour, if not properly stored these can evaporate. Keep in a cool dry place but not in the fridge. Try to keep away from spices and heat sources.
