Description

The blend

Considered one of the best tasting teas, Ceylon has a distinct flavour, aroma and strength. Although the tea produces a pale orange colour once it is made, the name, Orange Pekoe, is not a reference to an orange flavour or colour but instead to the size of the leaf – it is a grading of a large leafed Ceylon tea. This pack contains 500g loose leaf tea.

The taste

A tea that is full of character, Ceylon Orange Pekoe has a rich fragrance, a crisp aroma and a brisk flavour.

The benefit

Black tea contains polyphenols, a type of antioxidant. Caffeine and an amino acid called L-theanine are also found in black tea, which is said can improve alertness and focus – even more than coffee!

The moment

A fine tea to present to guests when they visit, whether you are entertaining over breakfast, afternoon tea or have just finished dinner.

The creation

Using traditional methods of blending and tasting, this tea has been carefully crafted by the Miles team, using Miles experTeas!

Based on the edge of Exmoor and on Somerset’s coastline, we take inspiration from our beautiful surroundings to create a cuppa that embodies a little escape, evoking memories of a holiday in the West Country, with each sip. Our attention to detail and experience ensures a consistent, flavourful tea that will see you constantly topping up your mug.

We are founding members of the Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP). The ETP is a not-for-profit organisation, which convenes tea companies, developing agencies, governmental and non-governmental organisations to improve the lives of communities within the tea sector. Each purchase directly helps to provide better living and working conditions for those working in the tea trade.

Black tea

Perfect Brew

Perfect Brew

Black tea is best made with water brought to a full boil and used immediately for the tea to release its full flavour (if you're using a teapot remember to warm the pot first). Use one teaspoon of loose-leaf tea per person.

Allow to brew for 3-5 minutes. If you like your tea strong add more tea, don't steep for longer as this will turn the flavours bitter.

Drink with milk, lemon or on its own.

Perfect pack

Our Ceylon Orange Pekoe tea is available in packs of 100g or 500g of loose leaf tea.

Perfect pair

Enjoy this brew at the weekend, over breakfast, with fluffy American pancakes topped bacon and maple syrup. The sweet syrup and salty bacon washed down with a rich cup of Ceylon tea is hard to beat!

Storage

Make sure you store your tea in an airtight container – a tin is better than plastic, or seal up the packaging it arrives in. Although tea feels dry, it contains 3 % moisture and oils that are essential to its flavour. If not properly stored these can evaporate. Keep your tea in a fairly cool, dry place, which is out of sunlight and try to keep away from any spices that could taint the flavour.
